On 13 December, the European External Action Service, in partnership with The Center for Climate and Security and World Resources Institute (WRI), will hold a side event outlining new tools for anticipating climate security crises and practical institutional frameworks for using foresight to manage climate security risks.

On 13 December, the European External Action Service, in partnership with adelphi and the Planetary Security Initiative, will host a side-event at COP24 aimed at tracking international progress in addressing climate-related security risks, as well as raising awareness on climate security among the COP community.

Following the Armistice Day on November 11, a new international platform aimed at promoting a revival of multilateralism was inaugurated by the President of the French Republic Emmanuel Macron. The new forum  is based on a desire to carry the torch of cooperation in the face of the difficulties repeatedly expressed by the ballot boxes and on the streets.

Suivant l’Armistice du 11 Novembre, une nouvelle plateforme internationale à la défense d’un multilatéralisme malmené a été inauguré par le Président Emmanuel Macron. Basé sur une volonté de porter le flambeau de la coopération face aux difficultés exprimées maintes fois par les urnes et  dans les rues, ce nouveau forum s'integre au sein d'une ambition de remettre le multilatéralisme au goût du jour.

Organized by the Netherlands, on the 26th of October, this meeting aimed at strengthening global monitoring of developments relating to water quantity and quality. It underlined the need for timely information-sharing and early warning to the UNSC.

The 2018 Global Hunger Index has identified climate change as a key threat to continued progress in the fight against hunger, alongside conflict and poor governance. The report’s particular focus on forced migration and hunger describes a complex and “poorly understood” relationship, and calls for greater focus on the root causes and political responses to each.
