On the 20th of September 2018, a meeting was held at the Clingendael Institute to discuss a new report by the Planetary Security Initiative that aimed at assessing to what extent landscape restoration initiatives may address migration in Africa. Last year, conflict and extreme climate events have been the main drivers of food shocks. The short term estimate for 2018 suggests that conflict and enduring weather conditions will continue to contribute to the acute food crises in many regions.
