Next week, on the 11th, 12th and 13th November, the Paris Peace Forum will be held to revive collective governance, international cooperation, norms and institutions at a time when global challenges have never been so pressing.
Conceived as an annual gathering of all actors of global governance, from states, including more than 60 Head of States and their representatives, and international organizations to civil society. It will feature projects and initiatives meant at improving global governance in five key domains: peace and security, environment, development, new technologies and inclusive economy.
“The first Paris Forum, will offer the opportunity to reflect on world governance while we commemorate the end of World War I and recognize our collective responsibility...” – According to Emmanuel Macron, President of the French Republic
The objectives toward a greater synergy for the environmental governance will highlight two issues:
- The Environmental Pact, which aims at gathering and harmonizing all environmental laws in one single legally binding document.
- Eye on earth, a project by the Environment Agency of Abu Dhabi in partnership with UN-Environment to improve the creation, availability, discoverability, use and usability of environmental data, especially in countries from the Global South.
In terms of environmental governance as well as peace & security, many projects will be interesting to see growth.
