Pauline Krikke is mayor of The Hague since 17 March 2017. She studied in Amsterdam and became a member of the People's Party for Freedom and Democracy (VVD) at the time.On behalf of the VVD, she took a seat in the city council of Amsterdam in 1994. In 1996 she became alderman for Economic Affairs, Air and Seaport. After the municipal elections of 1998, she was re-elected as alderman and exchanged her portfolios for Economic Affairs and Employment, Building, Housing and Economy. During that period she led many international trade delegations with Amsterdam companies and institutions.
In September 2001 Pauline Krikke became mayor of Arnhem. In 2007 she was reappointed for another 6 years. From 2003 to 2007 she was also part of the Youth Unemployment Taskforce.
