About Lindy Weilgart

Lindy Weilgart has specialized in underwater noise pollution and its effects on cetaceans since 1994. She has studied whales since 1982, and her M.Sc. (MUN), Ph.D. (Dalhousie), and post-doctoral studies (Cornell) were all on free-ranging whale acoustic communication. Lindy has served as invited noise expert for DFO Canada, U.S. Marine Mammal Commission, International Whaling Commission, German Environment Agency, NATO, European Parliament, Convention on Biodiversity, and the United Nations, and has published numerous peer-reviewed papers. She is currently an Adjunct (Biology Dept., Dalhousie) and serves as Scientific Advisor for the International Ocean Noise Coalition.
