Prof. Shlomit Paz

Prof. Shlomit Paz, head of Department of Geography and Environmental Studies, University of Haifa, is a climatologist and a climate change researcher. Her scientific focus is on the impacts of climate change on the human health and human security with a special interest on vector-borne diseases (mainly transmitted by mosquitos) and those transmitted by water and food. Prof. Paz has formed strong international collaborations. Recently she led a project for the ECDC on the impacts of climate change on the West Nile virus spreading throughout Europe. Geographically her research focuses on the Mediterranean Basin and Europe, Africa and India.
