The third iteration of the Berlin Climate and Security Conference (BCSC2021) will take place from 27 September - 8 October 2021. The conference is a digital global meeting for high-level representatives from governments, international organisations, the scientific community, the private sector, and civil society. They come together to address the latest developments on the climate-security nexus. This year´s conference focuses on inclusive and joined-up approaches at the local, national, regional, and multilateral levels.

Climate change continues to make global headlines as a “threat multiplier”. This is particularly true for fragile regions where political tensions are also on the rise. The Berlin Climate Security Conference aims to identify concrete entry points to move the debate from analysis to action where climate change and political tensions are integrated into a comprehensive approach.

For the second year, the Planetary Security Initiative (PSI) is participating in BCSC2021. PSI is organizing a closed round-table discussion on 7 October (15.00 - 16.30 CEST). The online dialogue “Learning From Climate Security Practices and Bringing Them to Scale” will host four climate security practitioners leading different climate security projects in vulnerable regions. They will outline the key challenges they were confronted with in the design or implementation of their activity, and will detail what others may expect to encounter in this field. The practitioners will also discuss how they were able to overcome challenges and share lessons learned from their concrete experiences. This event is connected to the PSI overview of climate security practices.

This event is closed and by invitation only. If you would like to join the discussion, please email us at psi@clingendel.org.
